Self-Inspection Guide

Simple checks any owner can do to confirm their system is healthy โ€” no tools or technical knowledge required.

Visual

Monthly visual check: panels, mounting, and wiring

Once a month, walk below or around your array and look for: cracked or discoloured panels, bird droppings or leaf build-up covering more than 20% of a panel surface, any cables hanging loose or showing visible insulation damage, and mounting brackets that appear bent or shifted. None of these require climbing the roof โ€” if anything looks wrong, photograph it and contact your installer.

Monitoring

Reading your inverter and monitoring app

Your Solis inverter shows a green LED and a live kW output figure when operating normally. Open the Solis Cloud app and check: today's generation vs. the daily average for this month, whether the graph peaks around solar noon (11:00โ€“13:00), and that the app shows 'Normal' status with no active fault codes. A sudden 30%+ drop with no cloud cover is the clearest sign something needs attention.

Safety

Warning signs that need a professional

Call your installer if you notice: a red or flashing LED on the inverter with an error code displayed, total generation dropping to zero on a sunny day, a burning smell near the inverter or DC isolator, the circuit breaker tripping repeatedly, or visible burn marks on any component. Do not attempt to reset or open the inverter yourself โ€” DC voltage inside remains dangerous even after switching off the AC breaker.
